A New Deal for a Stronger Economy

America has always embraced its role as a global leader – tackling the big problems facing our nation and the world and meeting our challenges head on. But the past several decades have witnessed the steady decline of our share of the global marketplace. And unless we take action, American workers will only fall further and further behind.

That’s why it’s critical that we give the President trade promotion authority and establish the Trans-Pacific Partnership – a groundbreaking trade agreement that recognizes the challenges of competing in the global economy while leveling the playing field to create American jobs and protect American workers. This tough new trade deal will:

  • Require countries that want to send goods to the United States to play by fair rules on wages, workplace safety, and the environment
  • Establish strong rules of engagement for the world’s fastest-growing region – instead of allowing countries like China and others to set weak policies that threaten American jobs and workers

  • Create high-quality, higher-paying jobs here at home by increasing export opportunities for American-made goods and services

It’s time for a modern take on the global economy that honors American ingenuity and prioritizes our workers – and to clear the way for President Obama to finish the deal.
